Mountain Bikes are an incredible (but underutilized) tool for hunters, and when you add some electricity to them they are even better (way, way better). Aside from Western hunting, they can pull double-duty getting deer hunters into treestands scent and sound free. Turkey hunters can forget “run-and-gun techniques” covering way more miles “pedaling and gunning.”
The mid-drive kit slides through your bottom bracket and is screwed down tight on the other side with 2 hex screws tightened to 35-40nm of force. This is quite a bit of force and is typically how much force one person can generate with a hand tool using all of their might. One thing to note is that after two weeks of riding my bike, I had to re-tighten the mid-drive hex screws. I also had to re-tighten the screws holding my rear rack to the bike. Re-examining your bike for loose components is necessary for any bike, but even more so for electric bikes because the forces applied to them tend to be higher over time. Once you have the mid-drive kit installed on your bottom bracket the rest is pretty easy. Simply route the cables coming out of the motor to the designated locations on your bike.

The earliest episodes with John Amos as the captain were silly. His continuing bad attitude toward them in the face of their success was unrealistic. Beyond that, however, the entire series was great. It suffered some after Stepfanie Kramer left, but it was still good.
The e-JOE Epik’s 350-watt motor and 36-volt battery will carry you up to 30 miles (in ideal conditions) at up to 20 mph. It’s sturdy, too, with a weight rating of up to 300 pounds. Yet it’s quite light and easy to stow in your trunk or trailer. You can get some exercise (or not), and beat the commuter rush.
Based on the opinions that have been shared by the people who have used it, this is a good option because it is lightweight. In spite of being light, its performance can be comparable to the full bows from the same manufacturer, with the only difference being that the latter are heavier. This product comes with five years of limited warranty from the manufacturer.

If you’re new to hunting, you want to find the best hunting bow for a beginner and that is the Bear Archery Brave Bow Set. This bow set features a high quality bow that has a 15 to 20 inch draw length and a 15 to 20 draw weight. The set includes 2 safety glass arrows, an arm guard, two piece arrow quiver, pin sight, and an arrow rest. This set has everything that your young hunter may need to get out there and land their first catch.
Of course, a bike simplifies pre-season scouting as well. One of my favorite deer-related activities is a last-minute “speed-scouting” venture undertaken about a week before the season starts. I quickly beat a path across the property, checking https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_bicycle surveying acorn crops, and looking for bucks’ hoof prints at creek crossings. My feeling is that the less time I spend in the woods scouting, the less likely I’ll be to spook deer. Scouting by bike allows me to accomplish in a few hours what might take days to do on foot.
Once I received my batteries I tested each cell and each pack of 4 cells for voltage differences from the manufacturer. I then connected the four packs in series to quickly test the smart charger. Once I verified that the smart charger was working properly, I then started to install the LED balancer modules on each of the 16 cells. Each of these balance modules installed without any issues. Each 12-volt four-pack then needed to be connected in series to each other to make the 48-volt pack required to run the motor. The extra connector bars that I ordered didn’t quite reach from one battery to the other, so I flattened them down with a hammer to extend their length. The length was perfect and it also allowed me to put a small piece of cardboard between the batteries for shock protection.
As a hunter, there are many different ways that you can actually go about catching your prey. During bow season, many hunters look for the most reliable hunting bows that are also among the best rated among their peers. The only problem is there are so many bows that are on the market, it may be difficult to decide which hunting bow is the best.
Summary: I really like this bike. It is fast, real fast. I feel the Hunter is priced well for a 750W mid-drive off-road bike. My friends have all tried it and they have been impressed with it also. After sales service hasn’t been great in terms of answering their phones, and I still don’t know exactly how fast I’m going, but I don’t need to, I ride by feel not by the speedometer. A little attention to the tyre/tube issues and adding rim tape to the wheel would be advantageous for getting good reviews. 🙂 Having said all that, I would highly recommend buying this bike if you can afford it. 🙂 (Posted on 08/10/2015)
This hunting bow comes with compressed ABS limbs that ensure long life. They offer sufficient weight, balance and strength to provide this element. The strong layered limb draws weights up to 70 pounds, and this can be reduced and raised by simply loosening and tightening the bolt, respectively.
Unfortunately when overstuffed, the fanny pack had a tendency to fold over on itself. The only way to resolve the issue was by simply packing less. This is understandable, considering it was designed for carrying a few small items while hiking.
FAT bikes rule. Ask anyone who’s had a chance to ride one and you’ll see their eyes widen with glee. For the past five years, the FAT bike market has exploded in the United States and elsewhere. Enthusiasts have been blown away by FAT bikes’ ability to conquer terrain previously thought impassable by bike. Snow, rocky riverbeds, extreme off-camber sections, the steepest hills imaginable. A 4.7 in wide tire makes all of these scenarios rideable. FAT bikes were initially used on trails under many feet of snow. People were naturally curious, “I wonder how this bike would ride here, and here, and here?” Since their inception, FAT bikes have become the bike of choice for an immense cult of riders. Some people have gone as far as selling every other bike they own and opting to ride their FAT bike exclusively.

Foldability: Not all folding e-bikes are small. Some full-size electric bikes with standard 26-inch or 27.5-inch wheels can be folded to fit into compact spaces. Make sure you’re aware of a folding bike’s weight before you buy it, though. “Foldable” doesn’t always mean light.

The CB4 frame has attachment points for 1, 2, or 3 standard water bottle cage mounts, depending on the space available on each frame size (larger frames have more bottle mounts, smaller ones have less). The fork has 2 mid-blade mounts and 2 sets of triple-boss attachment points, one on each leg, for oversize cages on the fork to expand carrying capacity for water, stove fuel, sleeping pads and other gear.
Canadian “Dr Bass” is considered one of the pioneers in hot rodding hub motors (read our hot rod hub motor primer here) and has been doing it for years. His motor of choice is the large Crystalyte 5304, the same 25-lb rear hub-motor used in the Stealth Bomber. His bike of choice like many other guerrilla E-bike builders is a full suspension bike with an extra large triangle for convenient mid frame giant battery strap-ons….the Giant Down-Hill Comp. This bikes battery uses 100-volts, and puts out 150-amps for a mind-blowing 15,000 watts (20-horsepower, the national street-legal limit in the US is one-HP). Dr Bass holds the only official world speed record on an electric bike at a verified 58-MPH.  He is in contention with the young guns:  Liveforphysics and Farfle  to break the E-bike 100-MPH barrier. He has his hands full.

Whether the terrain is flat or hilly impacts the distance you can travel, as does the weight of the bike, your own weight, the gearing available on the bike, and how much juice you give it. We suggest that a distance of 10 to 20 miles is a realistic expectation. Of course, if you’re prepared to do at least some pedaling, you can extend that dramatically.
This is the CB4. CB4 is a fatbike, a human powered all-terrain vehicle built to take hunters and anglers far into the backcountry quickly and quietly. Its massive 3.8”-wide tires run at very low pressure to provide flotation and amazing traction over rough or soft terrain.
As a result, nowadays, FAT bikes are so much more than snow bikes. From winter riding, to desert sand dune sessions, to long-distance adventure touring, not to mention plain old-fashioned trail riding on your favorite patch of single-track, FAT bikes are showing up everywhere. FAT bikes are currently the fastest growing segment in the bicycling industry. Companies can’t make enough of them to keep in stock. That’s why we’re so excited about this opportunity. We wanted our first bike to make a splash, and what better way to do it than with the introduction of a Made in the USA electric FAT Bike?
We genuinely thought the best bike would be the one that had the smoothest power delivery or provided the best range on a single charge. The test crew bandied around new terms like grunt, torque, resistance and revs, in an attempt to describe the subtle differences between each system.

The only thing left was to add a double kickstand and some lights. The kickstand is really important for a bike of this weight. In my case, the kickstand makes it easier to unload and load my young son from the bike trailer I pull behind me. I simply flip down the kickstand and then the bike is stable.
Due to the high number of sales of our bikes to fellow sportsman just like yourself, our bikes are in high demand. Hopefully we’ll be able to get you out and about and enjoying one of our electric fat bikes and you’ll be able to see for yourself why many of our customers consider this to be the best electric bike for hunting.
The one downside is that it’s nearly as large as some of the smaller hydration pack offerings on the market. Despite it’s size, when cinched just right, the bag stayed in place with minimal bouncing. Overall, I’d say this $50 Dakine bag is best suited for pack rats, or those on  backcountry adventures who need to carry a wide assortment of kit.
I have done over 200 km on this bike so far and it lives up to its specs, especially its top speed and acceleration. There are bikes out there, specifically the Specialised Turbos, which are similar in specs but much higher in price point (+$2000) – so its definitely competitively priced. The only issue I have had on it is the battery life. However that’s because I am 104 kg and my backpack is usually 6 kg and I always ride it in the highest power output level, the higher gears, with little or no peddling, and I live in a hilly area (some hills being 50% incline) – so its expected I would get less range (I get a range of 15 km). Lithium-ion polymer batteries have the same electrical properties as standard Li-ion batteries, but the material can be shaped more easily. There’s the potential for some interesting designs, though we’ve yet to see them.
In terms of motors, the big names are Yamaha, Bosch and Shimano. Shimano Steps was the first e-bike specific groupset from the Japanese giant and it features a mid-drive electric motor, as well as integrated electric shifters and a torque sensor to smooth out the ride a little.

Also, incorporate specificity training – exercise that closely mimics your end activity, namely hiking. If you live near hills, do a couple of hard hikes every week, starting with a 20-pound pack and working up to 40 or 50 pounds. If you live in flat country, climb stairs. I have spent hours backpacking the stairs at a local school football stadium.

The suggested tyre pressure is 40 psi (as indicated on the tyre rim). I’ve discussed this with some experienced bikers and they expressed concern that it might be a little low and could cause ‘pinching’ punctures on the rim when going over harder objects at speed. This was more my concern for the puncture on the front wheel, however that is only a theory, and as I’ve already said, it could also have been a piercing puncture. However I will keep an eye out for more punctures in the future and hope that my addition of rim tape and puncture resistant tubes will stop any further flat tyres from occurring.
Progress is so rapid that in many ways it’s feels like the dawn of mountain biking once again. Geometry is all over the map, new bands like Bosch are entering the mix, and MTB household names like Fox, SRAM and Shimano are all scrambling to develop bespoke ebike components.
I chose to use the mid-drive Bafang BBS02 motor kit. The downside to this design and kit is the fact that the pedal-assist mode can “crunch” your rear chain rings in the back when shifting. You typically have to pedal your bike to get the rear derailleur to change chain rings. The controller then detects that you are peddling your bike and then spins the front ring. You then hear a “crunch” from the back chain sprocket as it is shifting gears. There are a couple of ways around this design flaw:

No contest here either. Cedric Lynch wins this hands down with his recumbent complete with aero-fairings. Car manufacturers do wind tunnel testing for a reason….the faster you go over 25-MPH, the more energy you will throw away to wind resistance. Going fast is very inefficient unless you can deal with the wind resistance factor…which Cedric has done.

Last but not least, the Infinite Edge Blk Ops has gathered some of the most outstanding customer reviews out there. People claim that you pay for what you get, but in this case, the expectations of buyers have been greatly exceeded. The bow shoots like a pro and comes with a lot more additional equipment than some of the expensive products on the line.
Visually, the Pedego City Commuter Classic Electric Bike is stunning – a smart blend of yesteryear’s style and today’s technology. Pleasantly high handlebars, a sprung seat, and lovely Schwalbe Fat Frank tires make it very comfortable. Stopping is taken care of by powerful disk brakes, front and rear. Lights are included, as is a useful cargo rack. From an e-bike standpoint, the Pedego Classic City Commuter sports a reliable, hub-mounted motor driven by a 36-volt, 10-amp battery. There’s a digital display with a trip computer, odometer, speedometer, pedal assist level, and battery charge information.
The basics of an electric bicycle are simple. The electric motor propels it, a battery supplies the power, and a throttle provides speed control – although not all electric bikes have a throttle. The difference lies in how these components are arranged and what assistance they give.
* A strong cylinder. Your abdominal cylinder supports the rest of your body. Build it with situps or stomach crunches. Do as many as you can. Then do some backups to strengthen your back. Lie flat on your stomach, arms and legs fully extended, and raise your arms and legs off the floor. If you can’t do this, alternately raise your arms and legs. Back curls on a electric hunting bike discounts ball are also good.

Suddenly, movement to my left broke my concentration. A patch of brown was moving through the trees, leisurely working its way towards me. Within a few minutes, a mature doe had closed the gap between us to within 30 yards of my stand.
If you buy a used or new bike, and you are going to use a mid-drive motor kit, don’t invest your money into the front derailleur or one with a nice double or triple crank set up front. You will be removing these components, if using the mid-drive kit. So, look for single speed bikes or fixies. The problem with fixie bikes is that they are generally a minimalist bike without eyelets for rack attachments etc.
After three years of rough use, the vinyl covering has held up surprisingly well, marred only by a few predictable chips and scuffs, and the olive drab base coat continues to prevent any glare or reflections.
The last e-bike component we’re going to discuss is the throttle. A few e-bikes use levers much like you’d find on some lawn mowers. Some just have a button, but most use motorcycle-style twist grips. These give a positive feel and more precise control.
As it turns out, what makes an e-bike tick isn’t really that different to a regular mountain bike. Sure, e-MTBs are a lot heavier and unless you’re taking performance-enhancing drugs, it’s unlikely that you’re blasting up every trail as quickly as you normally bomb down them.
Some assembly of your new electric bike may be required. Often, this merely involves attaching the front wheel, but assembly chores are sometimes more complex than that. Several manufacturers provide instructional videos to help owners with the task of e-bike assembly.
The next step is to remove your crank set. This usually involves using a hex tool to remove your crank arms, and then using a crank puller tool to pull the crank assembly away from your bottom bracket. Once you have the crank set removed from your bike you will need to remove your bottom bracket. The bottom bracket will generally unscrew using a special tool that matches your specific bottom bracket as there are several different models. Now you are down to the hole in the bottom of the frame. This is a good time to clean this part of your bike before you attach the new mid-drive motor assembly.
There are a lot of electric bicycles (e-bikes) on the market today — from off-road adventure beasts to fat-tire bikes with folding frames. Some can’t even be legally ridden on streets. If you own a UBCO 2×2 e-bike, you know what we’re talking about, but here’s some good news: the new UBCO 2×2 util…

Liveforphysics, tired of frying fragile and lightweight RC motor setups, has discovered a magical combination of  massive axial flux motors intended for E-motorcycles, Sevcon controllers, and Nano-Tech Hobby King LiPos strapped  onto a custom built non-suspension frame. He is achieving speeds never seen before on an electric bike, all the while keeping his bike’s weight down under 200lbs. My favorite video of his is of the first carnation of the “Death Bike” which he built (in 7 days time) specifically to win a race I was putting on last summer called the “San Francisco Hill Climb”. Here is the crash that ensued and was caught on camera:
One tactic that Cedric uses to achieve high speeds is by following the rules of aerodynamics, and building a bike that is as aerodynamic and as efficient as possible. The other builders on this list bypassed this step, and Cedric uses this bicycle as daily transportation on real commutes. (read our article about Cedric here) Although this high-efficiency motor uses “old school” brushes, this fact allows builders to use very affordable controllers. He has proven his design choices through thousands of miles of commuting, and the Lynch motor is highly respected.

Every stick, vine, rock, branch and felled log finds a way to impede your progress — and that’s just going downhill. Skinned ankles, banged-up shins and the never-pleasant lunging off the seat and onto the bar of the bike are good-enough reasons not even to try it.
Here are two more advantages I see: One is the reduction in scent impact when travelling in my hunting area. My boots are not touching the ground, and I will be moving faster, leaving less signs of my intrusion that might alarm deer. Secondly, I ride a bike quite a bit on trails through wooded areas near my home, and I see that deer react much differently to a person on a bike than they do to a person on foot. They don’t see a person sitting on a pair of wheels as nearly the threat that they perceive a person walking. I’m not sure how much that will be an advantage, but spooking deer while scouting and travelling to and from a hunting location could be reduced.

I absolutely adore my hydration pack in the way that one can only love an inanimate object they’ve carried for innumerable hours. That trusty bag has served as a makeshift pillow, hangover companion, beer tote, and trail buddy for years, yet now some reformed downhillers with moto envy have decided they’re uncool, so it’s suddenly time to trade that relationship in for a water bottle, some electrical tape, and a nylon murse.

MUSCULAR FITNESS. While cardio fitness builds a strong engine, muscular fitness builds a strong chassis. The buzz phrase these days is core fitness, but for good reason – a strong core supports the entire body. If your core melts down, the whole body goes with it. You see this in long races as runners start to slump and lose their posture. At that point, they’re toast. Think how much quicker it will happen in the mountains as you carry a bow and daypack and fight your way up steep slopes.

You are missing the point dd. The point is that if pedaling is completely irrelevant then it’s not an electric pedal bike anymore; it’s an electric motorbike. Once electric bikes start hitting 40+ you may as well take off the pedals – they’re just getting in the way. If you want to start judging electric bikes on speed and range then gas bikes are going to win, since gas still has a way higher energy density than batteries. You dumb schmuck.

I can see they would be useful in some of the places I hunt. However, most WMAs in Arkansas do not allow motorized access and the electric assist would likely not be permissible. Is Arkansas one of the states that do permit their use on public areas?

I bought the RipStrip and sent it straight back. Couldnt fit a Galaxy S7 in it and felt like it was backed by Cardboard. Replaced it with a HighAbove Das Bum Bag (Fanny pack) or for the enduro bro’s waist bag.

The front light/horn did not come with a bike handle bar attachment. However, I had several laying around from all of my previous bike product purchases. Otherwise you can visit your bike shop to see if they have one lying around the back stock rooms for free. A simple ¼” bolt and nut is used to connect the handle bar attachment and mounting bracket for the light/horn unit.
I used some simple speaker wire I had lying around from a previous project. This wire is great because it has 2 wires with a protective sheath on the outside. I stripped the wire 2 feet from the end and crimped a ring connector on each end. I then measured and cut the wire to extend from the battery packs all the way to the front handlebars where the switch would attach. The switch unit has screws that allow you to see how each individual accessory switch is wired. I connected my positive wire to each of the 3 wires that create the positive circuit for the front light, front horn, and rear lights. The negative wire was then connected to complete the 3 switch circuits. An additional set of wires was then traced back down the frame to the rear light. The front light wire set contains 3 wires enabling you to connect two hot wires and one neutral. Only several inches of wire is needed to extend these wires to your wiring harness installed near the front headset of the bike.
We also have new metrics with which to compare bikes, toque, power and battery life, not just travel, geometry and weight. It’s an amazing time to be testing bikes and this month we have four of the most exciting ebikes on the market.
While the Samick Sage Takedown is one of the best options for adults, it mostly addresses the needs of beginners and intermediate users. If you decide to prospect the market and get a good-quality bow, you might come to the conclusion that this one is well worth every penny as it has gathered a plethora of positive user reviews over time.
Ease of use is an innate characteristic of the Genesis Bow. Since the adjustment performed by the buyers can occur both easily and in a timely fashion, this leaves the users enjoying the game a lot more. Fiddling with your equipment is a loss of time and can be quite frustrating, if you’re the owner of the wrong bow. That doesn’t happen with this model, as it’s not only well-built but also very easy to customize.

Back curls on a physio ball are also good.
Defiant Bicycles Big Easy crosses the boundaries of utilitarian purpose and the simple joy of riding as fast as 20 miles per hour through impossible elements like drifted snow or a heavily sanded beach with all of the convenience and greenness of a bike combined with the unbridled joy of a Vespa.
It wouldn’t take much to bolster the Giant’s rating. A shorter stem, wider handlebar and some thicker casing tyres would be all it would take. If, however, Giant wants to turbo charge the Full E+ 1 and compete with the likes of Specialized and Trek, it’s going to need a compete overhaul. The length of the frame needs to be increased, the gear range needs expanding and that old square taper crank spindle on the Yamaha motor really needs to be put back in the museum. As it stands, the Full E+ 1 is more of a towpath power-house than a genuine singletrack slayer.

The Panasonic NCR 18650GA 3,500mAh cells are know for their enormous 10A (per cell) discharge potential, making them ideal for a high powered off road electric bike. A careful consideration in the design of any electric vehicle systems is the balance of capability between the individual https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_bikes battery pack, BMS (battery management system), controller and motor. The design discharge potential of the cell type should always be higher than the discharge requirement of the pack and the pack should be more capable than the design requirements of the BMS. The discharge capability of the battery and BMS together should then be higher than the requirements placed on the pack by the motor and controller. So when we put together the Hunter with the high current and voltage demands, only the Panasonic high power cells were fit for the task.
Bikes can be surprisingly stealthy contraptions. One day a couple of years ago, I was riding back to my truck after a morning hunt. As I got within sight of the vehicle, I saw that my hunting buddy had made it back before me. Although I wasn’t trying to be especially quiet, I was able to ride right up behind him without him even knowing I was there. He nearly jumped out of his skin when I skidded to a stop!
The Liveforphysics bike and the Thud E-bikes are the bikes that were race proven, racing on twisty swirvey race tracks against other electric bikes and also gas-powered bikes. Motomoto’s bike and the Dogati are also race worthy given that they are lightweight and well balanced, but have not yet been raced.

There are a huge number of electric bikes to choose from. That can lead to confusion, but with a bit of thought, and the help of this e-bike report, it won’t take long to identify the best solution for your particular needs.
I previously used standard battery type rear and front lights. However I have grown tired of constantly changing their batteries and or charging the batteries. I wanted a system where I could run the lights from the main battery pack. Unfortunately, most bike shops don’t offer these lights so you have to search specialty scooter stores or other e-bike online sites. Once I found the 48V wired lights it was a matter of installing them on the bike. Most rear pannier racks have a mounting bracket for a tail light.
The bag was on the larger side, but its breathability and excellent fit made it one of the most comfortable. All of these features comes at a price. The Osprey retails for $69.99, which is the second highest in our test.
This was the bag I was easily the most excited about because of the hydration bladder integration. Many of the enduro bikes we review here at Bikerumor do not have a convenient spot for a water bottle cage, so this fanny pack seemed to offer the holy grail of usability and enduro trail cred.
There are thousands of American hunters that love to hunt with bows, weapons which offer more intensity to each hunting trip. Bows are designed to connect the user with the sport of hunting in a traditional manner, where precision and force need to go hand in hand. As a result, looking for a reliable compound bow becomes an important task handled with attention by most hunters. If you are currently searching for an efficient hunting bow, the following rows will be your guide in the maze of products available for purchase. There are marketing strategies that might compromise your decision to invest in a bow capable of enhancing your hunting skills. This is why we decided to write this buying guide; to help people distinguish what to look for in a brand new bow, close to their real needs.

If you have always wanted to hit the field with confidence but never had the opportunity to use specialized gear that allows you to raise up to par, you might be interested in checking out the SAS Sergeant 55 27-29. This is a compound bow that’s as smooth as possible and that makes hitting the target as easy as pie.
Elsewhere, tyres tend to be fatter, even on the road bike options you can expect up to 32mm of rubber to be specced. The extra rubber helps absorb the impacts of the heavier frame as well as provide more grip and stopping power to balance the extra weight and speed.
Still, once the novelty of having power assistance wears off, it’s the basics like sizing, geometry and balance that take precedence. If anything, these fundamental attributes that influence handling are even more pertinent on an e-MTB as the suspension becomes less of a focus; the steady power supply from the motor eliminating pedal-induced bob, while the extra weight of the battery and motor on the frame ensures that the suspension is working overtime to iron out even the smallest creases on the trail.
After choosing your desired bike, the first step is to remove your chain, front crank set, and bottom bracket. Some chains are connected with a quick link which can easily be pulled apart. Other chains may require a chain tool to remove a link from the chain to get it separated.
Some people may not be aware that when it comes to bows, there is a difference between hunting bows and target bows. A hunting bow has a shorter axle to axle length. The newer bows can be as short as 32”, and because of this, it is a lot easier for the hunter to move in a tree stand. Also, they are usually camouflaged so the prey cannot see the bow. A target bow is the opposite, as it has a longer axle to axle length. This makes them a little more forgiving and are far more stable. These bows are a little more cumbersome and they usually are brightly colored.
Batteries: Battery packs can be fitted in all kinds of different positions, but often, they are fixed to a rack behind the rider. If you plan on carrying anything, this configuration could be problematic.
I previously used standard battery type rear and front lights. However I have grown tired of constantly changing their batteries and or charging the batteries. I wanted a system where I could run the lights from the main battery pack. As I thought about this location and several others I have hunted, I began to realize that most of the properties I hunt have a network of access roads that are used by the DNR, and sometimes by farmers who have agreements to plant crops on the property. On that 1.5-mile trek, more than a mile of it could easily be ridden on a bike.
The frame is made of high quality heat-treated, double-butted A6N-6000AL tubing. Superior design and workmanship result in a high quality bike that is light, strong and responsive so you can go everywhere your hunts takes you.
All of http://huntnbike.com are legitimate concerns, but they are a topic for another article. The purpose of this test is to find the best electric mountain bike, not to debate whether the category is an inspired idea, or the most evil development in the history of mountain biking.
The second flat occurred about a week later on the front wheel. The puncture was more traditional, in that it was on the side of the tube where the wheel makes contact with the ground, suggesting a sharp object on the ground pierced the wheel and tube. (However it was a little off to one side so a pinch puncture isn’t necessarily out of the question. See note below).
Getting to remote stands usually requires entering into the woods well before daylight; getting out requires long walks in the dark. Neither scenario makes for a silent passage. Striking a compromise between a quiet approach and a quick advance can be difficult — which is exactly what a mountain bike can offer.
The bag was on the larger side, but its breathability and excellent fit made it one of the most comfortable. All of these features comes at a price. The Osprey retails for $69.99, which is the second highest in our test.
The environmental impact of battery production and increased electricity consumption can’t be ignored either, but if owning an electric mountain bike means that you no longer need to drive to the trails, they could prove to be the greener option.
If the mountain bike excels as a hunting machine, it shines even more in post-season scouting. If you’re anything like me, you probably don’t mind venturing into bedding areas once deer season ends, but you still want to get in and back out as quickly as possible. With the bike, you can do just that.
I enjoyed this article but I have two points to make, both about Cedric Lynch’s Feet First streamliner, which I have had the great pleasure of riding on several occasions. Firstly, I suspect it’s the only machine here which is actually street legal and properly road registered, complete with number plates, indicators, insurance etc. Secondly, it’s not any kind of bicycle, since it doesn’t actually have any pedals! More pix of Cedric’s machine here: http://bikeweb.com/image/tid/57
The e-JOE Epik’s thumb throttle is not the most intuitive (it’s a bit like some powered lawn mowers), but you soon get used to it. The handlebar-mounted display could be easier to understand. These minor negatives aside, owners love the e-JOE Epik’s practicality and reliability. It delivers precisely what you expect from a folding electric bicycle.
The last e-bike component we’re going to discuss is the throttle. A few e-bikes use levers much like you’d find on some lawn mowers. Some just have a button, but most use motorcycle-style twist grips. These give a positive feel and more precise control.
While the Samick Sage Takedown is one of the best options for adults, it mostly addresses the needs of beginners and intermediate users. After seeing these features, would you actually consider incorporating a bike into your hunt? The answer for me now is a definite yes, and when you see these things in action, you may be persuaded too.
Tim was a great help when I was looking for a new bike. I’m really happy with my purchase. Will be going back to get my twin grandsons their first pedal bikes from them. Typically, you’re more likely to find a hub mounted motor on cheaper e-bikes. While they do have the advantage of being perhaps a little bit more quiet, they often can’t handle the hills quite as well.
The VOLT’s 36V battery-claimed to last 70miles – is hooked up to a mid-drive motor that gives a nice balanced feel to the bike. Shimano provides the power in the form of Shimano Steps, the Japanese company’s first motor and e-bike groupset.
Then it stopped abruptly to peer intently at something through the woods, head bobbing up and down as it strained to make sense of the object of curiosity — and I saw that my bike was actually much closer than I had realized, less than 10 yards from the matriarch. The animal finally seemed satisfied that the inanimate object was no threat and resumed feeding on white oak acorns.
At $75, the Hunter bag is not cheap. It also lacks the dizzying array of internal mesh pockets and fancy ventilated back panels of the other competitors, but it’s easily the highest quality. It’s also the perfect size. Unlike the other packs, some of which were designed with hiking or running in mind, the Hunter didn’t feel like a mini backpack. It was a no-nonsense bag with just the right amount of room. Plus it looks classy.

Based on the opinions that have been shared by the people who have used it, this is a good option because it is lightweight. If you’re looking for a low-impact way to hunt, using a mountain bike will serve that purpose very well. It’s quiet, quick, versatile and just plain fun. If you’ve never tried it before, you owe it to yourself to pull that bike off those hooks in the garage, trick it out and hit the woods with it.

Most consumers want an e-bike that will accommodate its motor without being too cumbersome and will remain stable in spite of its electronic components. Some consumers want only the most basic of e-bike features, including lights, a cargo rack/basket, and a water bottle holder. Others are focused more heavily on safety electric hunting bikes such as brake type. And still others are concerned with convenience and portability.

Cogburn understands that there are people who use a bike as human-powered access to the backcountry to hunt and fish. It will be fun to see how other hunters use this machine and what innovations will be made to upcoming editions.
In my experience so far, I have had to charge my battery pack once a week. Even with pulling my child behind me to school and back everyday. However, I only ride about 7 miles round trip each day, but there is one major hill that drains the battery juice.

Electric bikes are not just disguised motorbikes or scooters, and there are some very key differences between the two. For starters, an e-bike can only assist its rider, its motor cannot be the sole source of power for the bike. To clarify, an electric bike can only assist a rider up to 25kmh (that’s roughly 15.5mph).

At the same bike shop I also found a cargo rack that mounted over the rear tire. Next came a homemade bow rack consisting of a piece of aluminum tubing, purchased at a hardware store and a set of bow/gun holders designed to mount on an ATV rack or handlebars. To make the bow rack I attached the piece of aluminum tubing crossways at the farthest rearward portion of the cargo rack, using nuts and bolts, and then mounted the ATV bow/gun holder to that. It worked like a charm, and I was soon making it silently to my stand in a third of the time that it’d have taken me to walk.

@Frippolini — I hate giant hydration packs for anything but the longest of rides. most full suspension bikes only have provisions for one bottle cage, that means on hot days or longer rides I’ll want a second bottle.
Having been around the business of bowhunting for more than 40 years, I have seen some products, ideas and concepts come and go. A lot of them. Some of these things become important parts of bowhunting success for many archers, some find a small niche and move along with the growth of the industry, and, of course, some are relegated to the ash-heap of history.  The ones that survive seem to be products that fill a need.
During an afternoon hunt, I’d followed my customary practice and stashed my bike in some brush. With just a few minutes of daylight left, I saw a coyote approaching over my right shoulder, just trotting along at first. Suddenly it crossed the path that my bike’s doe-urine-anointed tires had rolled down as I rode in. Immediately picking up the olfactory cue, it crouched low to ground and began belly-crawling towards my bike, stopping to sniff each spot of deer scent left by the rubber. It stalked right up to the brushpile, and I believe that it fully expected to see a young doe bedded there.
No e-bike is perfect for every situation, so you need to think about what you’ll use it for most of the time. Will you use your e-bike for commuting and/or shopping? Leisure rides? Serious off-roading?

“hunt bicycle wheels fat tire bike accessories”

But my rationale for going cheap was that I knew from the onset of this project that my bike would be used for one purpose only: hunting. General abuse — crossing creeks and being tossed over barbed-wire fences, hidden in brushpiles and left outside for months at a time — was going to be the rule for this bike; it wouldn’t hang by hooks in the garage for very long.
Electric mountain bikes have also boomed lately. Obviously the attraction of getting to the top of the hills faster and easier is there for all to see. Similarly, that assistance can balance the drag of the knobbly tyres.
The coolest and most innovative thing about the Rambo bikes is that the motor bikes feature an intelligent power control option. That is, when you start pedaling, the power boost kicks in. When you stop pedaling, it also stops. You can adjust the power setting from 0 to 9, with 0 meaning no power assistance, and 9 indicating the most.

So before I crown a victor, let me put this out there – I am not entirely sold on the fanny pack. Maybe I’ll be completely alone on this, but hydration bags are just so damn convenient. Why spend time awkwardly fumbling around for a water bottle when you can run a spigot straight to your face? Hell, I stay better hydrated when I wear a bag because it’s so much easier and I’m not worried about running out of water. Not to mention that I don’t have to worry about salmonella because maybe my carbon wonder bike only has one water cage, and it’s located in the most inaccessible place imaginable.
Farfle decided one motor was not enough for his latest race bike creation and took 2 Golden Motor Magic Pies and joined them into one. He re-made many of the parts inside the motor.  He then laboriously (over 40  hours)  rewound his Frankenstein hub motor (a grueling job) and cut air cooling holes to end up with one of the most powerful hub motors ever put on a bicycle .The bicycle itself was purpose built from Autocad files to welding bench, to final frame. This bike has a top speed of over 70mph and still is used as a commuter and has over a thousand miles on it.  Recommend Farfle to bulders everywhere: Build to last…

The meld of biking and hunting is interesting to us and perhaps timely. Ostensibly, the Cogburn bike is an alternative to an ATV. There’s a movement of a younger demographic of hunters that https://electrichuntingbikes.com find a non-motorized option appealing.
But it doesn’t have ENDURO in it’s name! I kid. That bag does look rad. For this year, Dakine has also introduced a smaller version of the bag in this review….and the RaceFace Rip Strip also seems interesting.
The weight of the bow can be a huge factor when you are trying to choose from the top ten hunting bows. When the bow is too heavy, you will find that the bow is too uncomfortable to hold and you may even feel fatigued. Also, keep in mind that the total weight of the bow will be a little higher once you add the quiver full of arrows into the mix. Of course, if the bow is too light, you will find it is too hard to keep it steady while trying to take aim.
Two big trends that have stormed the bicycle industry over the past few years are pedal-assisted electric drivetrains and fat tires. These two trends converge in Defiant Bicycles’ Big Easy. Unlike other electric bikes that stop at the edge of the street, the Big Easy keeps rolling over some of the toughest, most sluggish terrain on Earth – everything from hot sand to cold, mushy snow.
The Defiant Bicycles Big Easy is a first of its kind: a hand-crafted, electric FAT bike that’s Made in the USA. The Defiant is the culmination of over two years of development and is the perfect choice for utility and recreation in virtually any setting.
“It will be assaulted by the elements, It will be ravaged by time and it will be destroyed by the user. BUT, if you Stick to the little rules: K.I.S.S., Overbuild everything, and test, review, revise, repeat. It will last”
As a means of making our Defiant more versatile than ever, we equipped it with a 500 watt electric motor. This allows you to carry more with you on a long commute, adventurous tour, or hunting expedition in all conditions. The electric assist also means that your bike has become more utilitarian than ever. Single-occupant trips by car become less necessary, which will save you money in the long run all the while allowing you to burn calories you wouldn’t if you made small trips by car.

Cedric Lynch not only built his electric bike around a mid-drive, but also built one of the worlds most efficient light weight motors to power his rig reliably at 60-MPH for great distances. He would later set several world records with his axial flux motor and bring it to market as the Lynch / Agni motor. Briggs and Stratton would eventually buy this technology which would lead to the Etek motor, which is now famous for making high speed efficient electric hot rods (see our story on the original e-bike hot rodders).
The second e-bike of our household. This thing looks even more gangster than it does in the photos. A real head turner. The BBS02 has power to burn and with the “Hot Rod-ing” of the throttle makes the world of difference to the way the kit responds. The other bike a BBS02 is not a Hot Rod and its going to have to be now that I have ridden one that is. The Hunter is not built for lightness. It is a heavy bike. The front fork works extremely well and handles all the bumps. The seatpost also aides the ride as it has a spring on it as well. The seat is also a relatively padded one. The The Hydrolic brakes work very well. My other bike has a Shimano 10 speed free wheel on the rear derailer. This gives an excellent range and combined with the standard front cog on the BBS02 is well matched. The Deore is a good quality unit and I am happy to see it on the Hunter as well. The only thing missing IMHO is a mid drive gear changer sensor. I have one on my home build. Problem is you can’t have a gear sensor and a e-brake cutoff so Dillenger have gone for safety over function on this one point. Bafang needs to build a splitter cable for the e-brake cut out plug which allows you to split into two plugs so you can have the e-brake as well as a gear sensor running on the same plug. Full points to you Dillenger for putting this one together – an almost complete off road unit bar the tyres. The ones on the bike aren’t off road knobblies which surprises me but its a minor swap out. (Posted on 30/09/2015)
Once I received my batteries I tested each cell and each pack of 4 cells for voltage differences from the manufacturer.

Choose an electric bike from top brands like Razor, Monster Moto and Jetson, and your child will be burning rubber in no time! In sporty colors like yellow, green and red, your little rider can cruise in style at speeds of up to 15 mph. Adventures can usually last up to 40 minutes, or 10 miles, on a single battery charge. To ensure you get the right bike for your child, carefully examine the age and weight restrictions of your new electric bike.
Of all the machines on this list, only one has been used as a commuting device, and has been driven thousands of miles. Hats off to Cedric Lynch for building the undisputed most practical speedster on this list. The Farfle bike deserves mention because he has claimed to put over 1,000 miles on this bike commuting.

Safariland Patrol Bike

Safariland partnered with Kona to create the Patrol police bike. We thought its features would ideally serve the hunter and had it custom-painted brown for better concealment. The basic bike features a Kona Racelight Aluminum 7005 frame, hydraulic disc brakes, RockShox front forks, Shimano 30-speed drivetrain, and a solid rear rack. Best of all, it sports 29-inch wheels for increased off-road capabilities over rough terrain and obstacles.
To all that sit back and bash fanny packs, have you actually worn any of the products tested? Have you ever felt how nice it is to have nothing on your back and shoulders? A relatively small load – what, 3-4 pounds max? – carried by a well-designed waist strap is not going to constrict your waist or hamper breathing. Since you’re probably shuttling up, instead of earning your descent, there’s not going to be much huffing and puffing anyway if your body protests. Also, those of you with a waist size larger than your hips are inherently exempt, since the pack will constantly be sliding off your [trendy and expensive beer] gut…
Small lightweight crimp connectors were used to connect the wires. The positive and negative wires from the battery were soldered to provide extra strength. All wires were then heat shrinked and wrapped with electrical wire to create the wiring harness.
Today I’m going to spill the beans on three new items of riding gear I’ve been getting friendly with. Each piece is pretty stylish and stealthy, in my humble opinion, but it’s the integrated safety tech that stands out with these.
One of the most affordable recumbent tadpole trikes I’ve tested, you do have to pay an additional $350 for shipping but it comes “ready to ride” so you can hop right on. The 48 volt battery supports increased power and higher speeds for the 500 watt internally……
Carry 6″ Schedule 40 or 80 PVC pipe on your existing truck-bed rack. Carriers attach to the crossbars using the included saddle brackets and stainless steel mounting hardware. Cast-aluminum door with a spring-loaded latching mechanism and rubber gasket for protection from the elements.

“camouflage mountain bike tires _full suspension electric mountain bike”

Summary: I really like this bike. It is fast, real fast. I feel the Hunter is priced well for a 750W mid-drive off-road bike. My friends have all tried it and they have been impressed with it also. After sales service hasn’t been great in terms of answering their phones, and I still don’t know exactly how fast I’m going, but I don’t need to, I ride by feel not by the speedometer. A little attention to the tyre/tube issues and adding rim tape to the wheel would be advantageous for getting good reviews. 🙂 Having said all that, I would highly recommend buying this bike if you can afford it. 🙂 (Posted on 8/10/2015)
We’ve seen a few different electric fat bike designs in recent years, including 20-inch-tired clown bikes from Hanebrink and the Pedego Trail Tracker. We expect to see more of these bikes emerge because many US cities with big bike cultures – Portland, New York, Boulder and Minneapolis, to name a few – can have harsh, snowy winters. An electric bike designed to excel in snowy weather seems like a natural fit for commuters in these types of locations.

A relative newcomer to the scene is what is called a mid-drive electric motor. The mid-drive electric motor is not installed in your front or rear wheel hub, but attached to your front drive system. The main advantage to this system is the ability to use your own bike’s rear derailleur to change gears. The motor has its optimum rpm speed which you can sense when riding the bike. When the chain spins really fast, but your speed doesn’t increase, you simply change to a lower gear in the rear to get the perfect combination.
As e-bikes became more popular, dedicated models were developed. Most of them still look very much like ordinary bicycles, but now they’re built with the motor and battery as an integral part. Today’s electric bicycles are better balanced and more efficient than ever before.
For one of our earliest e-bike group tests back in August 2016 – in association with JE James – we selected three full-suspension bikes from the biggest conventional players, albeit each with a different motor…

As is the case with the product we’ve described earlier on, this one fits the needs of absolute beginners and advanced adults. It might not come with the same equipment as the Infinite Edge unit, but it’s well-made and does what it’s supposed to do.
And let’s not forget the economic advantages of owning an e-bike. The annual cost of running a new family car is, on average, about $9,000 per year. Running an electric bike costs around $400 per year. And while filling a gas tank costs around $30, recharging an electric bike battery costs only about 50 cents. A tank of gas may get you further, but not 60 times further!
As you go hunting, you will realize that it is not enough for you to have the adventurous spirit and the adrenaline for the fun that you are about to have. In most instances, you’ll have to demonstrate preparedness, which will be impacted by having the right gear, gear such as that which is mentioned in the best hunting bow reviews.
• Camo Accessory Bag – Holds gear and adds storage options. Conveniently fastens over the back wheel. Waterproof and durable construction stands up to the elements. Requires XL Luggage Rack for installation and proper use. Imported. Camo pattern: DZX™.
The benefits are clear to see: it takes less effort to ride, meaning you get less sweaty. It’s easier to haul heavy luggage around and still cycle. You can keep pace and feel more comfortable in traffic – fit them with a rack and mudguards and you’ve got a seriously practical bike.
At the same time, on a bike you can push yourself to the point of exhaustion without the pounding and pain you might suffer from running. Personally, I can ride a bike to exhaustion (three hours or longer), and suffer no residual effects, whereas running at that exertion level would lay me up for two or three days.
Glide through traffic without spewing any fumes, thanks to the plethora of e-wheels that are becoming available—though laws around the world are huffing and puffing to keep up. Below are new iterations of two-wheeled personal vehicles that are changing…

“hunter mountain bike _mountain bike gun rack”

Mountain bikes have occupied a small niche in bowhunting for many years, but they have never gone mainstream. These bikes are not made for hunting and therefore must be modified, and their use is limited to certain terrains. That said, the growth in popularity of fat tire bikes has been quite remarkable, and I suppose it was only a matter of time before they made a serious move at the hunting market.
The 3G Stepper is a cross between a bicycle and a StairMaster; it rides like a bicycle but is propelled by a vertical motion with your feet on two decks on either side of the frame. You stand up while riding, and your upper body gets as good a workout…
Combining some eating restraint with exercise, I dropped to an ideal 165, and I’ve held that weight ever since with a simple plan: 1) Cut out the ice cream. As an ice cream-aholic, I had to break the habit (with the exception of birthdays and an occasional celebratory Coldstone after a great hunting trip or race). Maybe your weakness is soda. Drink water. Identify your weakness and go on the wagon. 2) Stick with two helpings. I used to eat until I could eat no more. Now I hold myself to two reasonable helpings.
What type of batteries are common? Well, Lithium ion batteries are becoming popular the world over so it’s no surprise to see them specced on e-bikes, too. Typically, you should get around 800 charge cycles from a battery before it bites the dust.
I received my ALL TERRAIN 750 right before my month long Colorado archery deer and elk hunt. I was able to quietly get in to places in 15 minutes that used to take me over an hour to hike in! If you are a serious hunter that wants to get away from the crowds to hunt then you NEED one of these bikes. I did a ton of research and comparing and M2S hands down has the best bike / customer service for the price, period!
Batteries: Battery packs can be fitted in all kinds of different positions, but often, they are fixed to a rack behind the rider. If you plan on carrying anything, this configuration could be problematic.
The Infinite Edge Blk Ops Rh 3070 is very popular with beginners, but that shouldn’t fool you in case you know you’re advanced enough. Judging by some of the buyers’ reviews we’ve consulted, this unit can be utilized by virtually anyone, regardless of the user’s skills. It’s an exceptionally light bow that is both fast and silent and that comes with an unbeatable penetration power.
The pouch has a central compartment, a smaller sleeve that’s slim enough for your phone or wallet, and a key ring. While it is the smallest bag of the group, the pack is capable of holding four 12oz cans. More practically, it was capable of holding all the essentials, plus a compact jacket. Because of the lack of internal dividers, the added benefit of stuffing a jacket in the bag was that it prevented items from jostling around.
Minimalism meets all-mountain functionality in the next great line of multi-sport tents. We reviewed the ultralight Ultamid 2 tent in Mexico, Colorado, and the Sierras. Made from Dyneema fabric, this is one tough, expensive tent.
Mountain bikers love to moan. If we’re not complaining about the advancing tide of new standards, then we are bitching about never having enough time to ride our soon-to-be-out-of-date bikes. Talk about First World problems!
There was no documentation in the box on https://electrichuntingbikes.com to set up or use my Bafang handle bar display. While riding I have no read out of speed or other information that I would expect to see on an eBike. I have to ‘tap’ my brakes to for the display to show me what power level (1-9) the motor is currently set at and to see how much battery charge is remaining (indicated as either 1-5 bars of power remaining). I suspect it’s a problem with the cadence sensor but I do not have the technical savvy to fix it without some help from Dillinger, which brings me to my next point.
On their website, Camelbak states the FlashFlo was designed to carry a trail map, some snacks, a phone, wallet, and keys. I shoved a whole lot more than that into the two small compartments. The main compartment is shared with a 1.5 L hydration reservoir, while the smaller outer pocket has two internal mesh dividers, and a key ring.
It wasn’t long before I was using my bike for other hunting chores, like hanging tree stands. Of course, you’re not going to carry a ladder stand through the woods on a bike, but lock-on type stands and even some climbers are easy to strap to the rack. By using the front basket to carry a bag of screw-in tree steps, a safety harness and a haul line, and tasking the rear rack to carry the stand, hauling my entire set-up to even remote parts of my hunting property was a simple affair.

When it comes to dragging that trophy buck back to the truck, you’re far better off either using a motorized vehicle or doing it the old-fashioned way with muscle power; go back for the bike later. If that’s discouraging, take heart in the fact that you might not have even seen that deer were it not for the bike.
There is no denying that e-bikes bring a whole new dimension to the term drivetrain, and with them come new players to the world of mountain biking. Bosch, Shimano, Brose and Yamaha are vying for pole position in this burgeoning category.

Fully integrated into the frame’s downtube, a single 500 kWh battery—guaranteeing 750 full charge cycles—powers the Shimano drivetrain, all the while boasting a touring range between 80-100 km. To make sure all is working efficiently, an onboard interface the size of an iPod Nano is mounted on the handlebars. The digital readout shows the rider battery levels and consumption rates, current and average speed, distance traveled, duration and time of day.
